Why everyone keeps coming back.

Il Pastaio, nestled in the heart of Beverly Hills at 400 N Canon Dr, is a standout Italian restaurant renowned for delivering a vibrant taste of Italy right on Rodeo Drive. This upscale yet inviting spot marries authentic Italian flavors with the classic elegance Beverly Hills is celebrated for, making every meal feel like a special occasion.

The cuisine at Il Pastaio is a celebration of rich, authentic Italian ingredients and meticulous preparation. Start your culinary journey with exquisite antipasti such as the Bresaola—dry-cured beef paired with delicate hearts of palm, peppery arugula, and shaved parmesan—which balances robust and fresh elements perfectly. Another standout is the Polenta Soffice, a creamy soft polenta amalgamated with earthy mushrooms, melting fresh mozzarella, and a luxurious truffle fondue that delights the senses with its depth of flavor. Seafood lovers will appreciate the Zuppetta, a vibrant broth of mussels and clams infused with spicy tomato and garlic, offering a comforting warmth and subtle heat.

For main courses, Il Pastaio offers refined secondi piatti like the Ossobuco Alla Milanese, a tender veal shank beautifully braised and served with saffron-infused risotto acquerello rice and seasonal steamed vegetables. The Pollo Alla Giaco Mani, a simply exquisite chicken breast dressed lightly with arugula, tomato, olive oil, and lemon, showcases the kitchen’s finesse in highlighting fresh, balanced flavors. Many guests have also raved about the breaded Chicken Milanese served alongside perfectly roasted potatoes and crisp steamed vegetables—a dish that combines crispy texture with savory juiciness.

The dining atmosphere at Il Pastaio is the epitome of Beverly Hills Italian charm: elegant yet relaxed, with a warm ambiance that invites conversation and indulgence. From the moment guests sit down, they are welcomed with complimentary fresh Italian bread paired with exceptional olive oil and balsamic vinegar—a simple but eloquent introduction that primes the palate and sets the tone for the meal ahead.

Customer experiences at Il Pastaio reveal a restaurant that consistently impresses. Jude B praises the flawless execution and authentic flavors served from starters to mains, calling the meal an impressive journey of taste. David Lee highlights the seamless hospitality and the culinary excellence found in dishes like lobster pasta and squid ink risotto, emphasizing the restaurant’s prime location just steps away from Rodeo Drive. Meanwhile, William Joey’s review touches on the atmosphere’s elegant yet comfortable vibe, perfect for both intimate dinners and celebratory occasions.

Occasionally, some reviews suggest a divide between expectation and reality, noting that while the pasta dishes hold their own, the venue sometimes feels more like a happening scene than a purely substance-focused dining experience. Nevertheless, the overall consensus leans heavily in favor of Il Pastaio’s ability to deliver classic Italian tastes complemented by refined service and an enviable Beverly Hills setting.

Whether you’re craving the robust flavors of traditional meat and risotto dishes or the vibrant freshness of expertly crafted antipasti, Il Pastaio offers a truly immersive Italian dining experience. It’s the kind of place that leaves you savoring every bite and eager for your next visit—a true gem on N Canon Drive that embodies the spirit and flair of Italian cuisine in Los Angeles.

From the moment we sat down, the experience was impressive. They started us off with fresh Italian bread, excellent olive oil, and some balsami, which made for a simple yet perfect beginning to the meal. The starters were fantastic, each one full of flavor and beautifully prepared. The same goes for all of the main dishes we tasted—everything was cooked perfectly and felt genuinely authentic. We ended the evening with delicious desserts that rounded out the meal wonderfully. The service was exceptional throughout the entire visit. The staff was attentive, friendly, and made us feel truly welcomed. Overall, it was a wonderful dining experience, and I’d highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for great food paired with amazing service.

I had high expectations walking into il Pastaio in Beverly Hills, the location, the crowd, the buzz… everything feels like you’re about to have an unforgettable Italian experience. The reality? A bit more “scene” than “substance.” The pasta was decent, but not memorable. It wasn’t bad by any means just surprisingly ordinary for a place with such a strong reputation. When you’re dining in Beverly Hills, you expect flavors that transport you straight to Italy. Instead, it felt more like a well-executed weekday meal rather than something worth talking about the next day. And the tiramisu.unfortunately, that was the biggest letdown. It lacked the richness and depth you hope for more polite than indulgent. A dessert that should end the night with a wow factor ended it with a shrug. Overall, il Pastaio delivers atmosphere and people-watching at a high level. But if you’re going purely for unforgettable food, you might leave wishing the flavors were as bold as the zip code.

Did not make a reservation, but the host was very friendly and seated us right away. Everything was perfect — truly in the heart of Beverly Hills, steps from Rodeo Drive. The food was amazing. We had the lobster pasta, Caesar salad, and squid ink risotto, and all three were delicious and excellently prepared. Service and hospitality were exceptional. Our server, Gio from Milano, and our busser, Lino, took great care of us. When you go to a nice restaurant, you’re not just getting service — you’re getting hospitality — and they delivered exactly that. Definitely coming back and bringing friends next time.

We had lunch at Il Pastaio and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. The atmosphere is elegant and warm, classic Beverly Hills Italian dining with a refined but comfortable feel. It’s the kind of place that works perfectly for a special occasion or a relaxed upscale dinner. The food was excellent. Everything was well prepared, rich in flavor, and clearly made with high quality ingredients. The pasta was perfectly cooked, the sauces were balanced and authentic, and the presentation was beautiful without feeling overdone. You can tell there is real attention to detail coming out of the kitchen. The service was professional, attentive, and smooth throughout the evening. We never felt rushed, and everything flowed exactly as it should. Overall, Il Pastaio delivers a true upscale Italian dining experience with great food, a lovely ambiance, and strong service. Definitely a place worth coming back to when you’re in Beverly Hills.

3rd time visiting. Food: High Quality Had truffle pasta, and also tried; bruchetta plate, arugula salad, panna cotta, tiramisu. All delicious. Atmosphere: Lovely Service: Great, yet not excellent Server & Busser super nice and professional, yet staff bringing out food was sloppy. Set food on the table between myself and other guest but his body rubbed/pressed on mine a couple times and not in a subtle way. There was also an empty seat on my other side of me so could have easily served food thru that side with pelanty of space. Happened twice, was waiting for a third time to say something but other staff served the rest and they were awesome.

Loved the food here. The pasta was excellent; fresh, comforting, and clearly made with care. Flavours were solid and everything we ordered tasted really good. That said, the service wasn’t great. It felt inattentive at times and didn’t match the quality of the food, which took away from the overall experience. Amazing food, but the service could definitely be better.

I had originally made a reservation for Valentine’s Day, but when I arrived I realized my reservation was actually for the following day (Sunday). Even so, the hostess Cindy and Jennifer were incredibly kind and accommodating. They went out of their way to find me a table, and my wait was less than 10 minutes — which was amazing, especially for such a busy night. The food was excellent, the service was attentive, and the atmosphere was beautiful. I was seated outside, enjoying live jazz music, which made the whole experience feel extra special and romantic. Great food, great service, and truly outstanding hospitality. I’ll definitely be coming back!
